SCRAP Box (581 State Circle), in Ann Arbor, is filled with many unique, and oftentimes, recycled objects, that are PERFECT for craft activities at home! Open Monday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 6 PM, the SCRAP Box sells these recyclable items at a very reasonable cost! For $5 or $9, you can fill either a medium or large brown bag, with ribbons, paper tubes, buttons, papers, spongy shapes (many have an adhesive back), thin sticks, and much more!
My preschool-age boys and I ventured to SCRAP Box, recently, in search of materials to be used for creating robots! Initially, it can be quite overwhelming, walking into the store. Filled with large canisters of recyclable materials, you may find it difficult to decide how to fill your brown bag. However, the staff is extremely friendly, and they are very clear, in explaining the cost of the materials and what items are included in the fill-a-bag option. My boys had a blast using the materials we purchased, to construct ‘robots’ from gift boxes (left over from last Christmas).
Costume Clinics: On Saturday, October 14th, from Noon to 5 PM, children are invited to use all the materials at SCRAP Box. In addition, there will be expert assistance from their costume gurus! The costume stations include Animal ears, Paper-wigs, Superhero cuffs/capes, Space Cadet communicators, horns, wings, and many more. Cost is $5. If you register by October 12th, the cost is only $4.
SCRAP Box Grand Reopening: On Saturday, October 28th, from 10 AM to 6 PM, there will be FREE crafts, food, a costume contest, and 50% off all Halloween items.
Birthday Party Packages:
The Scrap Box also offers birthday party packages, on the weekends. For ages 6 and older, parties at SCRAP are a unique and fun way to celebrate a birthday or any special occasion. All parties include a creative reuse project led by a knowledgeable and artsy staff and exclusive use of their well-stocked SCRAP Studio for two hours. They can host 10 to 13 children (not including parents), and parties are available at either 11 AM or 1 PM, on most Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, CLICK HERE
