Library Storytimes

The Ann Arbor libraries offer baby playgroups for babies up to 24 months.  They ask that older siblings do not attend.  Each playgroup includes 15 minutes of songs and stories, followed by 45 minutes of open playtime.  There are large blocks, magnets, creative play with animal figurines, and much more!  Advice for babies just learning to sit up: bring a Boppy pillow that allows the baby to sit up independently!  The playgroups are very popular so be sure to get to the library, on time, so that parking does not become an issue.

Baby Playgroups Schedule:

Downtown Branch: Mondays 10:30 – 11:30 AM

Malletts Creek: Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:00 AM and Thursdays 6:30 – 7:30 PM

Pittsfield: Wednesdays 11:00 – 12:00 PM

Traverwood: Friday 10:30 – 11:30 AM

Preschool Storytimes are also offered at the four main library branches.  The storytime lasts for a half hour and includes songs, stories, dancing, and rhymes.  There is often an emphasis on counting, letter recognition, and rhyming words.  Most of the branches include open play after storytime (excludes the Malletts Creek Branch).  The storyteller is often accompanied by a musician too!
