Apple Orchards and Cider Mills

As we head into the Fall season, there are many wonderful cider mills and apple orchards in the towns surrounding Ann Arbor!  Many of them offer unique activities, such as hayrides, pumpkin patches, a petting farm, and a country store.  Check out an extensive list below, and I made sure to include which ones require an admission into the cider mill and which ones are FREE to stop by for a visit!  A list of the local Cider mills and apple orchards can also be found as a page link on the right-hand side of the a2kids homepage.

Wiard’s Orchards and Country Fair:  Located in Ypsilanti at 5565 Merritt Rd, Wiard’s is famous for its many fall activities!  Admission to the Country Fair, Wednesday through Friday, is $9.50 for anyone 2 and older.  Weekday Country Fair is open from 10 AM to 6:00 PM, and admission includes The Learning Barn, Hayrides, Corn Maze, mini golf, petting farm, pedal tractors, several playgrounds, and mountain slides.  Weekend Country Fair is open from 11 AM to 6 PM, and admission is $15.50 per person over 2 years of age.  Their U-pick apples and pumpkin patch is also located in the Country Fair and included with admission to the fair.  They offer a wide variety of apples!

Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill: Open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM, the Plymouth Cider Mill is located at 10685 Warren Rd., in Plymouth.  Although it is not a U-Pick Orchard, there is a wide variety of apples being sold in their country store.  It is FREE admission to visit the orchards, visit the petting farm, and a small cost to buy a ticket for a hayride.  The hayride goes along the apple orchard and stops off at a pumpkin patch along the way.  We love to go here for their delicious donuts and apple cider slushies!

Dexter Cider Mill: Located at 3685 Central Street, in Dexter, the Dexter Cider Mill is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 9 AM to 5 PM.  They offer fresh donuts, apples picked locally, apple pies, strudels, and turnover (weekends only), and other delicious apple products.

Erwin Orchards:  One of the largest and most popular orchards in the area, Erwin Orchards is in South Lyon at 61475 Silver Lake Road.  The U-Pick hours are from 9 AM to 8 PM, daily.  They also have U-Pick Happy hours Monday through Thursday, from 3 PM to 6 PM, where you receive $3.00 of a bushel of apples.  There are TONS of other activities at the orchards as well, such as wagon rides, trike trail, goat walk, and of course, donuts and cider to purchase!
